Director of Catechetical Ministry
St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish, located in Morgan Hill, has an opening beginning July 1, 2012 for a full time Director of Catechetical Ministry. The Director will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all catechetical components of the junior high, elementary and early childhood programs in both English and Spanish. The Director will be required to develop and evaluate curriculum, coordinate sacramental preparation, including parent and family faith formation, select materials, prepare and monitor a budget, supervise the maintenance of records, recruit, and train volunteer catechists, and perform other related administrative tasks.
The Director must have the ability to work collaboratively with the Pastor, parish staff, and volunteers as well as parishioners. The Director and the Youth and Young Adult Minister will collaborate to meet the needs of the Junior High students involved in the catechetical and Edge Programs. In addition to being active in the life of the Church, the Director should have good organizational, administrative, oral and written communication skills, and a good rapport with children.
Qualifications:
Bilingual (English and Spanish) required.
A Bachelor’s Degree in a course of study related to catechetics, religious education, theology, pastoral ministry or equivalent, current Master Catechist Certification and three to five years experience as a Catechetical Coordinator or a graduate of Institute of Leadership in Ministry (ILM) in the Catechist Track and has three to five years experience in a catechetical leadership position.
