Description of Ministry:
Altar servers assist the priest and deacon at Mass. Responsibilities include preparing the altar before Mass (in conjunction with Sacristan), carrying the Cross, candles and incense during processions, holding the Sacramentary and other ritual books during Mass and setting up the altar during the Gifts Rite of Mass. Qualifications: baptized Catholic who has received First Communion, regular attendance at Sunday Mass, and mature enough to understand and carry out responsibilities, which usually this means 5th Grade level or higher.
